About the Quartet

The Metropolitan String Quartet of Seattle is a classical ensemble of string instrumentalists. Its repertoire ranges from the traditional quartet literature of Mozart and Beethoven to contemporary popular standards, as well as pieces from the Baroque and Renaissance. It is best known for its collection of over 260 Christmas holiday tunes, selections of which were broadcast all day Christmas Day across 8 western states on Northwest Cable News.

The Quartet performed the 2000-1 World Premiere production of "In The Penal Colony", a Philip Glass chamber opera, for Seattle’s ACT Theatre, Chicago’s Court Theater and New York’s Classic Stage Company. In 2004, the Quartet premiered “Anna Madrigal Remembers” with the Seattle Men’s Chorus and with mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade. It has performed with the Northwest Girlchoir, for KOMO TV, for the University of Washington, for the Mostly Nordic, Second City and the Governor’s Chamber Music series in Washington State.

The Quartet has extensive performance experience, ranging from music for weddings and parties to a recital in the Taber Auditorium in Seattle’s Benaroya Hall.
